Privacy Policy

This page explains, in plain English, what information KpopCompass does and does not collect when you read our K-pop guides, and the choices you have.

Last updated: May 30, 2026

KpopCompass ("we", "us", "the site") is an independent, English-language educational guide to K-pop, published at https://saa.kr/. We want you to feel comfortable reading our articles, so this policy describes how your information is treated when you visit. By using the site, you agree to the practices described below.

The short version

KpopCompass is an informational website. There is no account to create, no login, and no newsletter sign-up that asks for your name. We do not ask you to submit personal details to read any guide. The only information that may be processed is the standard, largely anonymous data that almost every website receives — for example, which pages were viewed — along with cookies set by us and by the third-party advertising and analytics services described below.

Information we collect

We do not collect information that personally identifies you (such as your name, address or phone number) unless you choose to send it to us directly — for instance, by emailing us through the details on our Contact page. If you contact us, we use your message only to reply to you.

Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tools may automatically receive standard technical information when a page loads, such as the pages you visit, the approximate region of your request, your browser type and the time of your visit. This data is used in aggregate to understand which guides are popular and to keep the site working well. It is not used to build a personal profile of you by us.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. We use them mainly to help the site function and to gather the anonymous analytics described above. Third-party services we work with — particularly advertising and analytics providers — may also set their own cookies. You are always in control: most browsers let you view, block or delete cookies through their settings, and you can browse the site with cookies disabled, although some features may behave differently.

Third-party advertising (Google AdSense)

KpopCompass is free to read and is supported by advertising. We use, or plan to use, Google AdSense to display ads on our pages. As part of this:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies — including the DoubleClick advertising cookie — enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to KpopCompass and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting your Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of personalised advertising from many participating vendors at www.aboutads.info. Opting out does not remove ads — you may still see non-personalised ads — but it limits the use of your browsing history to tailor them.

Analytics

We may use analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — for example, which guides are read most and how people arrive. These tools rely on cookies and similar technologies and report data to us in aggregate form. You can learn more about how Google handles data on its own privacy and partner pages, and you can limit analytics tracking through your browser settings or available opt-out tools.

Links to other websites

Our guides sometimes link to external sites, such as official artist pages, ticketing services or reference resources. Once you follow a link and leave KpopCompass, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of any third-party website, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of any site you visit.

Children's privacy

KpopCompass is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take reasonable steps to remove it.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These can include the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you, and the right to object to certain processing. Because we do not maintain user accounts, we typically hold very little personal data; even so, you are welcome to send a request and we will respond in line with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or the law. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
